Justin Robertson… what an absolute legend! A much over-used phrase in this day and age but one that completely befits Mr Robertson.

Twenty three years at this thing called doof doof and beyond, he’s an innovator and restless proponent of fascinating forward thinking music.

A rich history matched only by his tireless need to keep pushing forward, as a result he remains one of the most relevant and exciting DJ/Producers around under his incredibly prolific Deadstock33s current moniker.

Still hugely relevant today, we’ve seen him in the last few years look just at home tearing apart the main stadium-sized rooms at WHP’s previous home Victoria Warehouse as he does in sun-kissed outdoors on an Adriatic coast at Electric Elephant. We were honoured to have him play for us at our beloved stage at Farr last year - he was so great that he’s back again this year to play the hallowed sunset set. It’s what sets a great selector out from someone who merely calls themselves a DJ.

So it’s a privilege, nay a celebration that we’ve finally pinned him down for the Ransom Note mix. And he’s turned in an Alfresco Jacking Excursion… a cracker it is too.

There’s a full interview incoming next week but for now get them ears round this.

Justin plays Electric Elephant once again this year - 10th-11th July 2014 as well as our stage at Farr Festival on 19th July.

We’ve had our eyes and ears on Cabaret Nocturne for sometime now, with a sound that is deeply influenced by the early 80’s Italo Disco and New Beat sound. Across the three original tracks on the EP his music touches on synth pop keys, melancholic Italo waves and dark bass lines.

Two key players in the Join Our Club family round off the EP on remix duties. Justin Robertson in his Deadstock 33’s guise pulls out an absolute blinder with a where the f%^k did that bassline come from. Last but by no means least XY-Me ups the tempo and strips thing back to bare a groove.

Out on Juno download now.

Justin Robertson holds a dear place in Electrique Music’s heart. For us and the rest of the world he is one of the most relevant and forward thinking djs/producers out there. With over 23 years career span remixing the likes of Erasure, Bjork, Happy Mondays, New Order, Talk Talk, Stereo mc s, Gary Clail, Fini Tribe, Felix the Housecat and Chicken lips to name but a few in a terrifyingly huge catalogue.

Justin’s latest incarnation as The Deadstock 33s has been garnishing lavish praise from established figures such as Andrew Weatherall and Erol Alkan, as well as a diverse cross section of fresh talent from Daniel Avery [ with whom he has a long standing production partnership] to Eats Everything.

The Deadstock 33s first appearance on Electrique Music was his amazing remix for Andre VII’s Discoteca Clandestina. This year he comes back with ” Summon The Primitive” a monster techno 2 tracker. This one is sure to be a hit.

Have a listen…
